Location: BancorpSouth parking lot and nearby street area-Vardaman
Spots will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. Vehicles can begin setting up at 4 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019. All trailers and equipment must be set up in the assigned area and all trailers or towed vehicles must be unhooked and parked outside of the cook off area. No vehicles or trailers will be allowed in this area after 7 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019. Limited to no electric and no water on site.
All competitors must be accompanied to their assigned site by a member of the Vardaman Sweet Potato Festival Committee or a member of the Vardaman Fire Department.
Entry Fee: $150.00
Competitors are responsible for their own meat and supplies for the cook-off and serving (enough to serve up to 10 judges and taste testers). Anything goes on preparations, spices, and marinades. We want the best dish you can prepare! ALL DISHES MUST BE COOKED ON SITE!
4 Dish Categories as follows: Beef: Ribs Pork: Pulled Pork Chicken: Whole/Breast
Sweet Potato: Any dish that can be cooked on site containing sweet potatoes
Taste testing will begin at 12:30 p.m. Judging at 2 p.m.

Grand Champion (Overall Winner)
$1000.00 cash prize, Trophy and Custom Made Cutting Board
Beef, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Sweet Potato Categories
1st in each Category: $300.00
2nd in each Category: $200.00
3rd in each Category $100.00
People’s Choice Award-$500.00
Taste testers will pay $5 to get a wristband and can taste test all competitors and return to the ticket table to vote on the People’s Choice award. One vote per wristband for the best individual dish out of all the cook-off dishes being judged.
Competitors must not sell any food during the cook-off or they will be disqualified for the judging. After 4 p.m. competitors are free to sell to festival goers at their discretion.
T-shirts will be available for $15.00 each. All profits will benefit Palmer Home for Children.
