Inaugural BBQ Cook-off

BancorpSouth parking lot and street area – Vardaman Spots will be assigned on first come first serve basis starting at 6-10pm Friday night then continue at 5am Saturday morning. Any trailers being towed in must be unhooked and towing vehicle parked outside of cook off area. Limited to no electric and water on site. Competitors are responsible for their own meat and supplies for cook-off and serving (enough to serve up to 10 judges and taste testing). Anything goes on preparations, spices, and marinades. We want the best dish you can prepare. ALL FOUR DISHES MUST BE COOKED ON SITE!
Prize and payout:
Grand Champion (Overall Winner)
$1000.00 Cash prize, Trophy, and Custom made cutting board
1st in each category - $300
2nd in each category- $200
3rd in each category - $100
People’s Choice Award - $500
Taste testing will begin at 12:30 Judging at 2:00pm.
Taste testing: Individuals can pay $5 to get a wristband and taste test all competitors and return to ticket table to vote on People’s Choice award of $500. One vote per wristband for the best individual dish out of all the cookoff dishes being judged.
There will be a concert starting at 7pm and competitors are free to sell to concert goers at their own discretion. Competitors must not sell any food during the cookoff or they will be disqualified for the judging. NO SELLING OF FOOD UNTIL 4PM!
T-shirts will be available for $15.00. All profits from cookoff will benefit Palmar Home for Children and Vardaman school change for Christmas.
